REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation, ensured railway construction plan in West Kalimantan would soon be realized.
"As an initial step, Director General of Railways already agreed to trace construction of railways from Pontianak to Sambas. In fact, environmental studies have also been done," said Head of Communication and Information Department of West Kalimantan, Anthony Sebastian Runtu, in Pontianak, Wednesday (2/12).
However, West Kalimantan Provincial Government was eager that construction of the railways was not only limited in Sanggau, but also continued towards Putussibau.

According to Anthony, railways agreed that from Pontianak to Sambas. In the middle, from Landak towards Sanggau, then from Sanggau to Ketapang, towards Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, to North Kalimantan.
"However, starting point in Pontianak and Landak is still unknown. But this trace passes through airports, terminals, and ports up to Sambas," he added.
He also said that an agreement on these pathways have not been set officially. It still required a comprehensive analysis as it goes through a lot of housing.
