Wiretapping issue, Police: We can not take action only based on allegation

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Responding the request of former president of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), to investigate who did the wiretapping of the conversation between him and the Chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI), KH Ma'ruf Amin, the National Police said could not take any action against such allegations. So, the police would wait for the development of the trial. 

The Head of the Public Relations Division Inspector General of Police Boy Rafli Amar said the information issued in the trial would be monitored by the police. Police would follow the trial and saw how it went first. "So we received the information, observing the growing phenomenon. What was mentioned during the trial, it was also important to us to look for whether it had a high validity of the information (alleged wiretapping) stated.  So later we would see the development of the issue," said Boy at the Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Thursday.

In principle, he said, the process of communication which caused problems and issues could be a part needed to observed, examined, and reviewed. This would be continued with steps taken by the national police. "We can not take action only based on allegation that grow from a result of conversation," Boy said.
