REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – National Police Chief, Tito Karnavian, insisted the authority would smash the cartels to stabilize food prices during Ramadhan and Eid. He hoped that the cartels would not play with the food stocks, so it would not burden the society.
"In stabilizing food prices, we targeted the cartels. We will smash (them),” said Tito in the Parliament Building, Jakarta on Tuesday (May 23).
Tito claimed that police had executed the instruction. A number of provincial police had smashed food cartels in Indonesia, among others the reveal of garlic accumulation in PT Logistik Pendingin Indonesia’s warehouse in Medan, North Sumatra. 61.5 tons of garlic from India were found there.
“Jakarta Metro Police had (raid) today in ex-post, National police had found garlic accumulation, refined sugar in South Sulawesi handled by Jakarta Metro Police, rice and others,” he added.
Police cooperated with Indonesian Logistics Bureau in keeping the evidence.
