REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BALIKPAPAN -- Deputy Speaker of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Mahyudin said Pancasila was the ideology that united the Indonesian nation, and its values must be understood by the Indonesian people.

Therefore, the MPR must disseminate information about Pancasila to the people, he maintained.

"MPR is interested in building the spirit of Pancasila ideology in every soul of the Indonesian society, as Pancasila is the glue that unites the people in diversity," he remarked, while talking about the four pillars of the MPR at Tarbiyah Science College in Balikpapan city, East Kalimantan province, Friday.

He explained that the MPR expected Pancasila to be echoed globally, so if there was a party that wanted to ruin the ideology, then the Indonesian people would not allow it.

He mentioned that his party was spreading knowledge about the four pillars of the MPR by using a humanistic approach.

"Overcoming threats (that could ruin the Pancasila ideology) cannot be fully entrusted to the police or the Indonesian National Army, but the whole community must be involved to overcome the threats," he noted.

Mahyudin, who is also a Golkar Party politician, said Pancasila was not owned only by a group, but belonged to all the people who have the right to gain understanding and information about it.

He revealed that the security of every citizen was guaranteed by the state, and the MPR was committed to building the soul and spirit of Pancasila.

"In addition to this, we face some unfinished challenges, such as the weakness in understanding others," he observed.

He also explained the problems faced by the nation, such as the growing radicalism and terrorism, the emergence of regional fanaticism or primordialism, and a lack of understanding of pluralism.
