REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Spokesperson of Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Slamet Maarif said police must to enforce the law for all cases related to blasphemy. He stated that to comment on @dhefhoyama's blasphemous tweet.
"It happened because the police were not firm enough and being selective in handling religious blasphemy cases. It has caused more massive hatred and religious blasphemy, especially against Islam," said Maarif when contacted by Republika.co.id on Tuesday (December 5).
Maarif who is also chairman of 212 Alumni said, the police seemed to be slow in processing blasphemy cases. In fact, he saw indication police have protected certain groups that committed hate speech.
On the other hand, he assessed, other similar cases that concerned non-Muslim groups were handled quickly and had good legal process.
"All the religious blasphemy cases must be handled with legal process. We are ready to support it," Maarif added.
