REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Forum of United Muslims (FUIB) has filed a police report against artist Joshua Suherman for alleged defamation. According to chairman of FUIB, Rahmat Himran, Joshua has portrayed Islam in a bad way during his performance in a stand-up comedy show.
Joshua, he said, compared former members of girlband Cherrybelle, namely Cheryl and Anisa. "Joshua said, Anisa is superior because she's a Muslim. In his last sentence, Joshua mentioned, there is something that can not be defeated in this country, namely the majority, in this case Islam," Rahmat said.
Those sentences has offended the Muslims, Rahmat remarked. Joshua's statement is feared to brought up negative sentiment to Islam.
"Therefore, we presented evidences in the form of the video of his stand-up comedy show as well as criticism from netizens in Whatsapp, Facebook and Youtube," Rahmat said.
National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) has recorded the report in LP/30/I/2018/Bareskrim dated January 9, 2018. Joshua is allegedly committed a criminal act of defamation of religion through the electronic media as referred to in Article 27 paragraph 3 Article 28 paragraph 2 Law No. 19 of 2016 on changes to Law No 11 of 2008 on ITE and or Article 156a of the Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, Rahmat said, other comedian, namely Ge Pamungkas also to be reported by other mass organization over similar case.
Ge Pamungkas was suspected to insult religion during stand-up comedy show as part of Susah Sinyal film promotion event.
"Twitter currently has contained political and religion and it's not cool anymore. For example, in the past netizens said, Jakarta's flood happened because the governor," said Ge on his stand-up show.
Ge continued, currently netizens have different opinions about Jakarta's flood. He said many people think it happened because Allah SWT wanted to test people as His human.
"Now netizens say it's trial from Allah SWT to those He love. I really feel stress. What's that mean?" Ge added.
