REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Mandate Party (PAN) said new axis coalition could rise in 2019 presidential election. Although there is 20 percent presidential threshold (PT) prerequisite that allows every political party to form a coalition and carry the presidential candidate in presidential candidacy, he believed the chance is big for a new axis coalition.
PAN Central Board chairman, Yandri Susanto said the new axis will be an alternative to the two existing coalition of supporters of the incumbent president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Prabowo Subianto as Gerindra Party chief patron.
Yandri said there are two big parties that may lead coalition outside government coalition, namely Gerindra Party with PT 12 percent, Democratic Party 10 percent PT, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) with 6,8 percent PT, and PAN 7,6 percent PT.
Furthermore, Yandri admitted PAN also has a name to be offered in 2019 presidential election, which is Zulkifli Hasan as the party chairman. However, it has not been discussed yet, whether Zulkifli will be presidential candidate or vice president candidate.
All about the candidates in 2019 presidential election will be discussed internally by PAN. The party also has possibility to disucss the other names, that already popular in public, such as Gatot Nurmayanto, Anies Baswedan, Muhaimin Iskandar, and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
Yandri said those names have possibility to be part of non-government coalition. Further more, he said the names also have possibility to be a new axis coalition outside Jokowi and Prabowo.
"So. whatever the final decision is, we must respect the attitude of every political party," Yandri remarked on Tuesday (March 6).
