REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla inaugurated the Jakarta International Handcraft Trade Fair (Inacraft) 2018 at the Jakarta Convention Center Assembly Hall on Wednesday. The event has been held 20 times.
"Thank God, if I am not mistaken, I have inaugurated it four times. Admittedly, the extraordinary event has made good progress," Kalla noted while opening the Inacraft 2018.
He said Inacraft held significance for the Indonesian handicraft industry to boost the creative economy. "Surely, the handicraft industry not only creates many jobs, especially for those living in rural and urban areas, but also has a good impact on the economy," he remarked.
Inacraft can also encourage small and medium businesses to take active part in boosting the public income and national economy, he noted.
Inacraft 2018 is the 20th of its kind to be organized by the country and will showcase a wide range of handicraft products and art and cultural attractions of North Sumatra, as the icon of the event is themed "The Loftiness of North Sumatra."
The organizing committee of Inacraft 2018 aims to attract 200 thousand visitors, clinch retail transactions worth Rp149 billion, and sign trade contracts worth US$12 million during the expo.
