REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Gerindra Party Central Executive Board (DPP) chairman Desmond J Mahesa said the determination of Prabowo Subianto’s running mate would be like chess game. The party will see first who becomes running mate for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as the 2019 presidential candidate from Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

“We haven’t determine yet, we’ll see Jokowi first,” said Desmond on Monday (9/7).

According to Desmond, Prabowo who is Gerindra Party chief patron has pocketed the names of his running mate candidates. He said there are many names, but the party must see and consider properly.

“We have pocketed the names (Prabowo’s running mate candidates) but we’ll see before the end of registration day,” Desmond added.

Desmond admitted there are five names of Prabowo’s running mate candidates. However, Gerindra will observe maneuver from the party’s rival until the registration of 2019 presidential election started on August 3 until August 10.

Among of the candidates, Desmond said two names. They are Democratic Party executive Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

“Yes, there are AHY and Anies who become Prabowo’s running mate candidates,” Desmond said.
