REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Head for Data, Information, and Public Relations Center Sutopo Purwo Nugroho urged foreign medias that do coverage disaster in Central Sulawesi must follow the regulations. According to him, a number of foreign medias are using tourist visa, not journalist visa.

“A number of foreign medias entered Central Sulawesi without proper documentation. They used tourist visas, then we asked them to report to embassies,” said Sutopo on Wednesday (Oct 10).

Sutopo said foreign medias that want to cover disaster in Central Sulawesi must have journalist visa. Foreign journalists can also show a statement stating that they have a duty station in Indonesia.

"If you have the document, then check in at the joint information center Pospenas. After that, you can have field visit to cover, except in the area of military assets," Sutopo explained.

An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter Scale, which was updated by Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to 7.4 on the Richter Scale, shook the Palu and Donggala regions last Friday (Sept 28) evening. The epicenter of the earthquake at a depth of 10 kilometers was located 27 kilometers east of the Donggala Sea.

BNPB reported death toll from earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi was reported risen to 2,045, which consisting 1,636 people from Palu, 171 people from Donggala, Sigi 222 people, Parigi Moutong 15 people. There is also one people from Pasangkayu, West Sulawesi.
