KUPANG - Located in Nusa Tenggara Timur, Kolbano Beach is rather different from any other beaches. Do not expect to find white or black sand in this beautiful beach. Instead, you will find a bed of rainbow-colored stones. You may be tempted to collect these sleek and unique stones.
People rarely find these stones in other beaches in the world. The usual stone is white or black, but not in this beach. You will see red, yellow, green, and other colors of rainbow of the stones. Some of them have distinct shades. The unique texture of these gravels not only attracts tourists but also become the livelihood of the local vicinity. People use these little stones as the ornament in their garden. Many hotels in Kupang also use these stones to beautify their parks.
Kolbano Beach is located in Kolbano district in Timor Tengah Selatan, NTT. The broad of the village is approximately 17 kilometers. The shore is facing Indian Ocean. To get to this beach is rather challenging. You can fly to Kupang from Jakarta with six hours of flight. Unfortunately, the flight schedule is limited. From Kupang, you can take land transportation. Again, it is limited. The bus has one schedule, which is at 06.00 central Indonesian time zone (WITA). The bus fare is only 60.000 IDR.
If you prefer a more comfortable way, the car rent can be a choice. The 130 kilometers trip from Kupang to Kolbano Beach takes four to five hours. In Kolbano, you can rent the resident’s house near the beach. And indulge yourself and your eyes with the fascinating scenery of Kolbano Beach. Enjoy!
