REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAGELANG - Borobudur Temple may be famous, but it is not the only attraction in Magelang regency. If you visit villages around the temple, you will find artisans work and some abandoned historical sites which seem attract less tourists. 

However, there is one thing too bad to miss when you are at the area: enjoying the beauty of the temple from Punthuk Setumbu hill at Karangrejo village. If you are lucky, you can watch sunrise in the east and also look another side of Borobudur's beauty.

At 04.00 am in local time, visitor can go to Punthuk Setumbu with motorcycles about 15 to 20 minutes, then you will arrive at the parking lot of the tourist attraction. To achieve the hill, a visitor has to pay 15 thousand IDR. Then, you will continue to climb about 400 meters on slipery land surface.

The trail to the top of the hill is illuminated by lights which are installed in several places. At the top of Pundhuk Setumbu, there are many large trees, such as teak and acacia. There are also a view tower, gazebo, toilet, and wooden benches. At 05.15 am, a glimmer of reddish light will creep into the clear sky in front of you. Mount Merapi began to show its beauty, followed by Mount Merbabu several minutes later.

"The most ideal time to visit here is June or August when the summer," Rochim, a local resident said. Sounds of birds chirping in the morning also add the peaceful atmosphere. At 06.20 am, the jungle fog dissapear slowly and display the exotic of Borobudur temple from a distance. This place is perfect for visitor who like photography. Pundhuk Setumbu hill now not only be an alternative tourist destination for who visit Borobudur, but also a livelihood for the residents of its surrounding.
