REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - South Sumatra will be the host of Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) 2014 after Central Java this year. Acting Head of Public Relations and Protocol in South Sumatra Provincial Government, Irene Camelyn said that the province last hosted such event 34 years ago.
"We were informed by Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy that South Sumatra to host FFI 2014. We are ready to implement it next year," Camelyn said on Friday.
Director General of Creative Economy Based Art has contacted Head of Tourism and Culture of South Sumatra about this decision. In 1979, FFI was held at Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium. At that time, November 1828 won the best film. Soekarno M Noor got best actor for his role in Kemelut Hidup movie, while Christine Hakim as best actress in Pengemis dan Tukang Becak movie. Teguh Karya achieved best director in movie of November 1828.
South Sumatra is ready to host FFI 2014 as the existing supporting facilities have been completed. Camelyn said that South Sumatra was ready to host various events, both national and international.
