REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKKAH — Ramadan is a month full of bliss and glory. When the month of Ramadan has passed, Muslims are encouraged to remain consistent in their worship. There are stories of people who diligently worship only in the month of Ramadan.

Believing Muslims are those who perform their worship regardless of place and time. There was someone who asked Imam Asi Shibli, between Rajab and Shabān which is more important. Then he replied,

“Be a Rabbani (a servant of Allah who always worships Him in every time and place), and do not be a Shabani (one who only worships Him in the month of Sha'aban or any other month),” is quoted from Imam Ibn Rajab Al Hambali's book, Lathaiful Maarif.

Imam Bisyr bin Al Harits Al Hafi was also asked about those who diligently worship only in the month of Ramadan, and he replied, “They are very bad people, (because) they do not know the right of Allah except only in the month of Ramadan, (the servant of Allah) who is diligent and fervent in worship throughout the year.“

As servants of Allah SWT, Muslims still need and expect Allah's mercy not only in Ramadan, but also in other months. As it is written in Al-Ahqaf verse 13, Allah says,

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Innal-lażīna qālū rabbunallāhu tsummastaqāmū falā khaufun 'alaihim wa lā hum yaḥzanūn (a).

That is to say: “Those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah, 'then remain silent, there is no fear of them, and they do not grieve.“

The above verse explains that people who consistently follow a religiously prescribed line, follow Allah's commandments truthfully, and abstain from His prohibitions. Such people have no fear in them on the Day of Resurrection, for Allah will guarantee their salvation.
