REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State for State Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir is ready to give support to President Prabowo Subianto's vision to serve the community with year-end holiday activities. It provides convenience for people who want to travel during the holiday period by helping with policies that make it easier for them to buy airline tickets.

This was revealed by Erick after President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the role of the Ministry of SOEs which was able to coordinate with the Ministry of Transport on a policy that managed to reduce airfares by 10 percent ahead of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025.

Erick reiterated that the drop in airfare prices is the result of strong synergies between the Ministry of state-owned enterprises and the Ministry of Transport, as well as the full support of President Prabowo. “We greatly appreciate President Prabowo's direction and support in efforts to lower airfare prices. This is a real step to help people and encourage the growth of national tourism,” Erick said in Jakarta, Monday (2/12/2024).

President Prabowo Subianto stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between falling airfares and the health of the airline industry. “We are committed to ensuring that this policy does not harm the aviation industry, while still providing maximum benefit to the public,” Prabowo told a cabinet meeting at Jakarta's Presidential Palace.

With the policy within 100 days of Prabowo's government, it is hoped that people will be able to enjoy the Christmas and New Year holidays more affordably and comfortably. The policy was also aimed at increasing confidence in the government in managing the transport and tourism sectors.
