REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Religious Affairs launched Islamic Rahmatan lil Alamin-based learning modules. Ministry of Religious Affair, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, said the modules will lead people to the same paradigm about Islam, related to the teaching materials and methodologies.
"This is one way to respond the existence of extreme teachings which were actually not an Islam teaching,” Lukman said, in Jakarta, Tuesday (11/8).
Director General of the Islamic Educational Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kamaruddin Amin, explained that this modules were prepared since 2014. 30 best teachers from all over Indonesia were sent to the University of Oxford for training.
He said the study of Islamic education in schools is something that is very strategic. This is because the Islamic education is taught to 47 million children in Indonesia.
Therefore, effective methodologies of learning are necessary to create people with peace and respect in cultural and religious differences. Islam also teach democracy.
These new modules will used in four provinces as pilot projects or pilot programs. Those provinces are Central Java, West Java, North Sulawesi and North Sumatra.
