REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) distributed packages of basic commodities among residents of Bogor City, West Java Province, on Tuesday as Ied al-Fitr festivities draw closer.

Dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt, the president distributed packages containing basic commodities at two different places in the city. Some 1,000 packages of basic commodities were made available at each of the two places.

While the president distributed these packages to a few residents, officers appointed for the purpose will distribute these to the rest of the residents.

Local residents had begun to queue up for these packages at 2:00 p.m. at both the places --- Babakan Pasar and Panaragan --- in Central Bogor Sub-district.

The packages contained five kilograms of rice, sugar, tea bags, and cooking oil.

Bogor Mayor Bima Arya S and the president's special staff for communication, Johan Budi, accompanied the president on this occasion.

The president is scheduled to break the fast along with orphans at the Bogor Presidential Palace.
