REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A number of ulemas met the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security Affairs Wiranto in his office on Tuesday (Feb 21). The meeting which was attended by KH Salahuddin Wahid, Didin Hafiduddin, Muhammad Yunus, Muhsin Alatas, Muhammad Ma'shum and Ahmad Parlaungan ran for more than an hour.
Salahuddin Wahid or Gus Sholah was met after the meeting. He was reluctant to explain in detail on what was discussed during the meeting. "Only sharing our opinions. It has been a long time we did not meet Mr. Wiranto," said Gus Sholah in Jakarta on Tuesday (Feb 21).
He said that the ulemas and the minister wanted to seek for resolutions of the problems arose in the nation. However, he did not mentioned what were the issues. "We talked about what has happened recently. How to resolved it. That was it. There was nothing special. Only the recent condition. We have many problems," he said.
Gus Sholah denied that the meeting was related to the 212 rally conducted by the people today. The Deputy Chairman of MUI Advisory Board KH Didin Hafidhuddin also denied it. "We discussed law enforcement, justice, and criminalization of ulemas," he said.
Kiai Didin said the ulama reiterated the importance of law enforcement, justice and stopping the criminalization against ulemas. He said the minister was very responsive. He promised to the ulemas that the aspirations would be delivered to the president. Meanwhile, Wiranto did not give any comment related to the meeting. "Later, I was in a hurry to join a meeting in the Palace," he said while leaving the office.
