Garuda`s income Increases to 27.1 trillion IDR in 2011

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State airline company PT Garuda Indonesia (Garuda) announced an unaudited income of 27.1 trillion IDR in 2011 or a 39 percent increase compared to the 19.5 trillion IDR gained in 2010. 

The President Director of Garuda, Emirsyah Satar, said on Thursday, the performance was made by operational expansion of the company by way of the Quantum Leap program, efficiency, and asset utilization.

Satar said Garuda managed to carry 17.1 million passengers in 2011. The number consists of 13.9 million domestic and 3.2 million international passengers.

"The number was also a 36.8 percent increase compared to the 12.53 million passengers in 2010," he said.

In the meantime, the passenger yield increased 12.4 percent to 9.63 US dollar cents compared to 8.6 US dollar cents in 2010. "Our domestic market share also increased to 28.3 percent, an increase to five percent compared to last year`s 23.7 percent," he said.

He also said that the domestic air passenger market in 2011 increased 16 percent, but Garuda`s passenger market increased 36 percent. In the meantime, the number of international passengers increased 12 percent and the market of Garuda increased 29.5 percent or eight percent higher than other airline companies.
