GMJ activists release white dove at Azadi National Monument, Tehran, Iran, last Saturday. This is a symbol of freedom of Palestine.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN – Located in Pastour Street, Teheran, the building is surrounded by other building in ranging functions. A minimarket is sat on a kilometer from the building. Melli Bank is across the building and on the corner is a restaurant and a private bank.

At a glance, nothing special is seen in this building. The height of the building is similar with others. Yet, in this very place, the President of Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, governs the country. The security post is placed in the corner of Pastour, but it does not give the impression that the place is Presidential Palace.

In this Pastour corner, hundreds of activists from Global March to Jerusalem (GMJ) from 15 countries, including our journalist, Nashih Nasrullah, wrote history. GMJ was welcomed by Ahmadinejad and state officials in the meeting room in Presidential Palace.

From the main security post, the guests had to pass five more security posts. Bags and electronic stuffs were prohibited. In the first gate, the officers manually combed the guests using metal detector. Then, the guests should walk along the path to building. The guests were ushered to the third story with the lift.

Soft drinks and bread were served in the room. Dozens speakers piled in the corner. The guests waited on obsolete wooden chairs before entering the meeting room. In auditorium, brown wooden podium was placed on wooden platform covered in green carpet. The President, parliamentary officials, and state officials sat on the same type of chairs. They sat on the wooden chair.

With the big smile, Ahmadinejad arrived in the auditorium and greeted some participants. Without wearing any bulletproof vest, he wore only a suit and shirt.

In his speech, he praised the role of GMJ. The move, he said, had written in the history despite the small amounts. With belief and sincerity, GMJ will change the world. Rasulullah could change the people’s fate through his 400 km Hijra, then “Al Aqsa victory will be achieved,” he said, firmly.
