REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON - Indonesian weightlifter Eko Yuli Irawan (23 years) on Monday won the first bronze medal for men's 62 kg class in Olympics. North Korea's Kim Un Guk won gold medal by lifting a total of 327 kg.

Colombia's Oscar Albeiro Figueroa Mosquera took silver with a total of 317 kg, edging out Irawan Eko Yuli of Indonesia who managed the same total but was relegated to third because his bodyweight was 13 gram higher. "This is the best that I could achieve," Irawan said.

Although he suffered shin injury, he managed to win the medal for Indonesia. Indonesian Minister for Youth and Sports Andi Mallarangeng felt grateful that Indonesia could win its first medal in London Olympics. "I hope it can trigger other Indonesian athletes to win more medals," he said.
