REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU - West Java's lifter Lilis Idaningsih broke Asian record in women's 84 kilogram category weight-lifting at National Sports Week (PON) XVIII/2012. Held once every four years, the 18th PON was held in Pekanbaru, Riau, from 9-20 September. The event sees athletes competing in 39 different sporting events for 598 gold medals at stake.
Idaningsih successfully lift a total of 637 kilograms. The previous Asian mark of 625 kilograms was set by Chinese lifter Chang Yawen.
Meanwhile, East Java's runner Eddy Zakaria broke SEA Games record in 110 meter. Notching at 13.7 seconds, he beat Thailand's runner Jamras Rittidet.
Jakarta contingent won as overall winner with 109 gold medals, 101 silver, and 112 bronze, followed by West Java with 99 gold, 79 silver, and 101 bronze. Third position was achieved by East Java which grabbed 86 gold, 86 silver, and 84 bronze.
