REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State-owned Telecommunication Company, Telkom, plans to expand to ten countries. Currently Telkom has cooperated with five of them, which are Timor Leste, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Corporate Director of Telkom, Muhammad Awaluddin, said on Monday that Telkom had subsidiary in Malaysia, but Telkom planned to expand to Malaysia in another scheme.
He explained that Telkom sought cooperation with Macau, Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia and Myanmar. Telkom recently has submitted expression of interest over Myanmar cellular. Yet, Telkom was not listed on the participants. The participants are Axiata (Malaysia), Airtel (India), Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel/ Singapore), Singapore ST Telemedia (STT/ Singapore), and Telenor (Norway).
