Indonesia ambitious to have the most sophisticated port

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Indonesia will have a new port claimed to be the most sophisticated port in Asia. Indonesia state owned port company, Pelindo III, has signed a procurement and operating system contract with four international class companies in Lamong Bay Multipurpose Terminal Port.

Executive Director of Pelindo III, Djarwo Surjanto, said the four companies would make the Lamong Bay Port as the most sophisticated port in Asia. "They will supply Automatic Stacking Crane, the new advance technology. The technology used only in Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Spain," he said.

Pelindo III has prepared 1.5 trillion IDR budget for the advance tools. The budget will be used to purchase 10 units of Ship to Shore Crane (STS), 20 units of Automatic Stacking Crane (ASC), 5 units of Straddle Carrier (SC), 50 units of Combined Terminal Tractor (CTT), and the procurement of Terminal Operating System (TOS).
