Telkom to expand its business to five countries

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned telecommunication company, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia or Telkom plans to expand its business to five countries this year, after it failed to win in a tender in Myanmar.  

"We seek other opportunities in a number of countries, especially ASEAN and onther countries with many Indonesian people," Managing Director of Telkom Arief Yahya said on Saturday. Telkom has 40 million customers in Indonesia by now.

Currently Telkom is doing busines in Singapore, Hong Kong, Timor Leste, Australia and Malaysia. Yahya said, there were 140 thousand Indonesians staying in Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia also a potential target since many Indonesian Muslims visited the country for pilgrimage.
