Six miners of Freeport rescued from landslide

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MIMIKA - More than 30 underground miners of PT Freeport Indonesia in Papua buried in landslides. Six of them had been evacuated after trapped from 07:42 am in eastern Indonesia time (WIT) on Monday night.

Those six miners are Yapinus Tabuni, Yoni, Edowai, Petrus, Mathius and David Gobai. Meanwhile, the fate of other workers still unknown. Local police explained that the rescue process was conducted by a special team of Freeport. 

The team knew well and familiar with the location. They also knew rescue techniques in mining field.  "Police were not deeply involved in the evacuation. Team of Freeport still continued to search and we are still waiting for more information," Head of Public Relations Papua Police Commissioner I Gede Sumerta said on Tuesday.

The landslide happened at training room 11 QMS Bi Gosan, Mimika district, Papua. The room inwhich ten meters depth suddenly collapsed and trapped the workers in it.
