REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Chinese student who studies at Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta continues to increase. Chinese student is the highest in the province

"Next year, we will open a representative office in Nanning City, Guanxi, China," Rector of Ahmad Dahlan University, Kasiyarno said recently.

Ahmad Dahlan University has graduated 269 Chinese citizens who studied at the campus. About 65 Chinese students are currently studying there and the number will increase after the university has cooperation with Muslim community in China.

This cooperation assessment was conducted when a team of Ahmad Dahlan University followed annual event, China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning on September 3-6, 2013. Ahmad Dahlan University was the only university from Yogyakarta which attended the event.

Deputy Rector II of Ahmad Dahlan University, Muhammad Safar Nasir said that growth of Muslims in China likely increased in aspect of quantity, not yet quality. Most of them rarely perform five daily prayers. Female students are not yet closing their body according to Islamic law. Therefore, university will do some approaches to Chinese Muslim community in order to follow general study and Islamic study at Ahmad Dahlan University.
