REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia Rattan Furniture and Craft Association (AMKRI) said that national furniture exports are expected to reach five billion USD in next five years. This figure is according to the world's total furniture exports reached 122 billion USD which is still dominated by China.
"China dominates 40 percent of world's furniture exports, followed by Vietnam worth four billion USD and Indonesia worth two billion USD," Chairman of AMKRI, Soenoto said recently.
Soenoto believes that Indonesian furniture exports can reach five billion USD or it grows at least 25 percent in next five years. When entering fifth year, value of furniture exports can reach 5.2 billion USD. AMKRI will continue to conduct some efforts, such as market penetration, particularly for non-traditional markets.
Demand of furniture's in 2013 could be brighter after the end of economic crisis in Europe and America. Based on the data from Centre For Industrial Studies (CSIL), Indonesia only contributes two percent of world's furniture trade. In 2009, Indonesian furniture exports reached 1.37 billion USD, 2010 (1.16 billion USD), 2011 (1.38 billion USD) and 2012 (1.4 billion USD).
Indonesian furniture export is still dominated by raw material, such as wood, rattan and bamboo. It is exported to USA, France, Japan, UK and Netherland.
