Govt to give operational license of Kualanamu railways immediately

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN - Ministry of Transportation to publish operational license of Kualanamu railways. This train route will operate from Medan to Kualanamu airport.

"The license will be issued this month," Deputy Minister of Transportation, Bambang Susantono said on Monday.

Susantono said that the second largest airport in Indonesia was fully supported by government because North Sumatra should be one of important hubs for national economy.

President Director of PT Railink as airport train operator, MN Fadhila said that this operational license was previously targeted to publish in October or November 2013. The train, which is ordered from Woojin Industrial System Co Ltd of South Korea has capacity of 172 passengers equipped by various services, such as WIFI and toilet. It takes time around 37 to 40 minutes from Medan to Kualanamu airport.

Public Relation Staff of Railink, Dedy Supriatna said that number of passenger was expected to reach 4,000 to 5,000 passengers per day.
