REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX at House of Representatives, Okky Asokawati urged the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) to improve the supervision and inspection of foods and beverages ahead of Ramadhan, the Muslim's fasting month.
"BPOM should speed up its work to ensure that foods and beverages are healthy and safe to be consumed," Asokawati said on Monday.
Such inspection will guarantee the sellers that their products are safe. Previously, BPOM conducted the supervision and inspection only during fasting month which put food safety in question.
According to Asokawati, BPOM must also oversee products sold online to guarantee their quality without affecting online business.
