REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Foreign Affairs Committee of Finland seeks counter terrorism alliance with Indonesia. During the visit on January 15-19, the committee shows interest on Indonesia Peace and Security Center (IPSC).
Led by a member of Finnish Parliament, Timo Soini, the Foreign Affairs Committee of Finland, accompanied by Finnish Ambassador to Indonesia Kai Sauer, met with Indonesian Minister of Defense, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, on Thursday.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Finland start in 1954 without any history on defense cooperation. "This meeting sought cooperation on defense, particularly education and training of forces," he said on Friday.
Yusgiantoro said Indonesia could learn from Finland as the nation had Finnish Defence Forces International Centre (FINCENT), a training center of peace keeping forces in Tuusula. .
"We also had interesting discussion on global security and peace mission issues," he said, adding that both counties also cooperated on cyber security. "We also exchange our experience on cyber security and its solutions," he said.
