REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will replace Indonesian Police Chief, Timur Pradopo, and Commander in Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono, before their retirement due to General Election 2014. Both of them enter retirement period in early 2014.
"Police chief has important tasks in General Election 2014, therefore, we speed up the replacement," Presidential Spokesman, Julian Aldrin Pasha, said on Thursday.
Normally, the new police chief will put into office in the middle of the election. By speeding up the process, the new police chief will have enough time to adapt with the condition and consolidate internally to secure the election.
Military Commander Agus Suhartono also enters his retirement this year. Pasha emphasized that their replacement was not related with recent cases involving police.
