REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara proposed the forming of National Cyber Agency to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo. He believes that president will grant his proposal soon.
"It is only a matter of time. Nevertheless, we should have cyber security," Rudi said on Tuesday, January 6.
Indonesia has a weak cyber security. Rudi said, other countries used internet technology not only to defend, but also to attack other countries. As an archipelago, Indonesia cannot only depend on Armed Forces for security.
Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Tedjo Edy Purdjianto said Indonesia was once suffered cyber attack, but it was not a national issue. He agreed that National Cyber Agency was important to guard state assets, such as electricity and banking system.
"State-owned electricity company PLN and banks have their own security system, but we need National Cyber Agency to integrate all defence system," he said.
