REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SINGAPORE -- Indonesian archery athletes won two gold medals for the country after performing the best in the recurve mixed team and women's individual events of the Southeast Asian Games 2015 at Kalla Cricket Field.
Ika Yuliana and Riau Ega Agata represented Indonesia in the recurve mixed event. They defeated Malaysian duo Khairul Anuar Mohamad and Shin Hui Loke 5-1 in the final round here on Saturday.
In the individual competition, Titik Kusumawardani won against Thi Dao Loc from Vietnam 6-0.
"We placed many representatives in the final round. The mixed and individual recurve events had promised gold medals," Coach Denny Trisyanto said.
The gold medal won by Ika Yuliana and Riau Ega Agata on Saturday was the second medal the pair won; they had won a silver medal in the men's and women's recurve team events in which the gold medals were secured by Vietnamese athletes.
Moreover, Titik Kusumawardani stated that she was proud she could contribute a gold medal to the Indonesian contingent.
"I am glad I could win a gold medal for Indonesia. It was not easy, but I had experience facing my opponent. I used that to my advantage," she remarked.
