REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Member of Commission VI of House of Representatives from Gerindra Fraction, Bambang Haryo Soekartono, criticized President Joko Widodo visit to the United States (US). According to him, the President should not leave Indonesia, given that Indonesia currently faced many problems.
He considered, Jokowi visit to the US as a form of irresponsible action. The President should have more focus to look for solutions to various problems, from economic, political, legal until the haze, which were increasingly tormenting Indonesian people.
"President Jokowi is not responsible for the stated budget, for the haze problem, for the economic slowdown, and for political and law noise," he said in a press release, Monday (26/10).
He stated, Jokowi should see attitude of former President BJ Habibie, in strengthening exchange rate in 1997/1998. At that time, Habibie did not make a visit abroad, even he was always in Jakarta. As a result, Habibie succeeded in strengthening the exchange rate.
"Moreover, there are no important points to be discussed with the US. His visit is to discuss Microsoft, Facebook or more digital issues that are not urgent and not necessary for Indonesian society," he explained.
