REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – A political observer from Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI) Siti Zuhro said the allegation of the shipment of fake Jakarta ID card from Cambodia should be clarified. This was very important because the society were very upset to know this.

Siti argued that the unresolved issue might lead to a conflict. “Clear the problem of id card from Cambodia immediately. The related stakeholders should immediately resolve this case before the election. Do not let it hanging because it potentially caused chaos in the society,”said her in Jakarta.

She argued that the society still questioned the correlation between the id cards and the election. Moreover, the information had spread on the social media and was said to be hoaxes. In the unannounced inspections, it was then clarified to be a fact. “So I hoped it could be resolved immediately. Do not wait until the election was over, because it would only spark uncertainty among the society. I supposed the election supervisory board (Bawaslu) was the most responsible to solve and to clarified this briefly to public. We wanted the qualified election,” said her.

Previously, a member of Commission II of the House of Representatives Ahmad Baidowi said it was necessary to hold an investigation due to the finding of a number of fake id cards from Pnom Penh, Cambodia. It followed the finding of a shipment of 36 ID cards, 31 taxpayers cards, a saving book of Central Bank of Asia (BCA)  which contained 500 thousands rupiahs and an ATM card by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

He said it was necessary to know the motives of the shipment addressed to Leo in Jakarta. “The related parties need to resolve this case. Does the ID cards fake? Consider that there was also a shipment of fake id cards from China and France. Therefore, we need to investigate it,”he said on a press release on Thursday.

He argued that the people’s data was very important. He was afraid it would recur when the case did not being resolved. Moreover, he said, around the election period, the issue was vulnerable to be associated with sensitive political issues.

“The electronic ID cards were also vulnerable to be misused by foreigners. From the visit of Commision II of the House of Representatives to the directorate, it was found that the cards from Cambodia was real and this was needed to be investigated,” he said.

Ahmad, who also involved in the visit argued that the case should inspire all parties to beware of the misused of id cards. This also reminded that those cards were many cards found, especially to the foreigners.
