Police await findings on Saracen group from PPATK

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Police said no alleged members or boards of Saracen group has been examined. The police decided to wait for findings and verification from Center Financial Analysis and Transaction Analysis (PPATK).

"We haven't examine yet because we haven't got data from PPATK," Head of Public Relations Division National Police Martinus Sitompul at Indonesia Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday (September 4).

Martinus explained one by one person who allegedly involved in Saracen group in its social media accounts of hoax and hate speech spreaders will be summoned by the investigators.

However, he underlined, it could happen if the investigator has obtained evidence as an excuse to call the concerned.

Furthermore, he said investigators have cooperated with PPATK. One of it aims is to track the flow of funds to certain parties including suspected Saracens members.

He said if the PPATK's findings show any involvement of the board members in the Saracen structure, then the police would immediately summoned them for examination.

Saracen Group created a number of Facebook accounts including Saracen News, Saracen Cyber Team and Saracennewscom with a total followers of about 800 thousand accounts.

A number of the Saracen accounts are always spreading hate speech contents that are categorically sensitive issues of religious, racial, ethnic and group differences. Saracen has been managed by this group since November 2015. One of person alleged involved in Saracen board was Eggy Sudjana, an activist and senior lawyer.
