REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Police would deploy hundreds of thousands of personnel to secure the regional elections(Pilkada) in 2018. Police also ensured the personnel will be neutral in the democratic event that will be held in 171 areas.
Head of Operations Planning Division of National Police, Edi Setyo Budi Santoso ensured that the Police will be firm on members who are not neutral in the election.
"The police are neutral. We guaranteed that. We have a Commission (who oversee). If they are not neutral, they will be fired. They should take it seriously, because if there are indications involved, the case will be processed directly," he said on Monday (November 27).
He explained that the police prepared 171,507 personnel to secure the elections expected to be followed by 167,015,806 temporary voters list (DPS). The police will get support from 36,968 TNI personnels.
In addition, 756,170 community protection (Linmas) personnels will also be ready to provide security support. For back-ups, Mobile Brigade (Brimob) and Sabhara are ready to be deployed.
The police would divide the allocation of Pilkada security in the operations exercise, the troop degree appeal, the creation of the candidate pair declaration, the security of the campaign period, the security of the calm period, the voting, the vote counting, the determination and the inauguration of the elected candidate.
"The pattern of power use is set up so there's no useless security," he said.
Meanwhile, Pilkada 2018 will be held at 392,226 polling stations (TPS). Of the hundreds of polling stations, the Police classified into three categories of vulnerability. TPS classified as safe as 328,389 TPS.
In addition, it is classified as Prone 1 is 42,233 TPS. While classified as Prone II is 12,509 TPS. The KPU has set 171 areas that will hold the elections concurrently in 2018. Of the 171 areas, there are 17 provinces, 39 cities and 115 districts that will hold elections in 2018.
