REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received Queen Maxima of the Netherlands who acted as the United Nations special envoy for financial inclusion on Tuesday. The president received the United Nations Secretary General's Special Advocate (UNSGSA) for Financial Inclusion at the Merdeka Palace here.

Queen Maxima, during her honorary visit to the president, led a delegation comprising UNSGSA Director Eric Duflos, Programme Specialist Nancy Widjaja, Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia Rob Swartbol, and Private Secretary Gabriella Sancisi.

The queen of the Netherlands and her entourage arrived at the Merdeka Palace at 9 a.m. West Indonesia Standard Time and were greeted by President Jokowi. Jokowi and the queen then held a veranda talk in the backyard of the palace while enjoying tea and snacks.

After the meeting, the president spoke to reporters about the importance of financial inclusion. According to the president, the most important aspect for accelerating financial inclusion is to simplify the system.

"Hence, the most important aspect is simplifying the system. It is very important as the key, and this is what we have to fix," he emphasized.

The president noted that the second aspect was to simplify the license issuing process. "I had a long discussion with the queen, and we expect to address these two issues quickly," the president stated.
