Indonesia to improve cooperation with Czech Republic

Czech is one of countries in Europe that first recognized Indonesian Independence.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the Czech Republic Senate delegation at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday. Wearing a long-sleeved batik shirt, President Jokowi received the Czech Republic Senate delegation, led by President Milan Stech.

Jokowi has expressed Indonesia's commitment to continue to improve cooperation in the fields of trade and industry with the Czech Republic. "I am committed to continuing to advance cooperation with the Czech Republic in various areas, especially in the fields of trade and industry," President Jokowi remarked.

Jokowi said the Czech Republic for Indonesia as an old friend. Czech is one of the countries in Europe that first recognized Indonesian independence. 

"We would like to thank you for the support of the Czech Republic for Indonesia's non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2019-2020 period," Jokowi said.

On that occasion, the Indonesian head of state was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Deputy Foreign Minister AM Fachir.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic Senate delegation comprised Chair of the Czech Republic Senate Milan Stech, Senator Tomas Grulich, Senator Ludek Jenista, Senator Hassan Mezian, Senator Lumir Kantor, and Senator Radko Martinek. Also present were Czech Ambassador to Indonesia Ivan Hotek and Deputy Chair of the Czech Chamber of Commerce Michael Steffi.
