Earlier, some photographs of women wearing black abaya and niqab were circulating in social media. Those women brought a banner bearing the support and solidarity for ISIS. In the photographs, Hotel Mandarin Oriental in Hotel Indonesia Roundabout area, Central Jakarta, was seen as background.
Meanwhile, thousands of people staging a rally on Defend Tawheed 211 thronged the road around the National Monument (Monas) horse statue towards Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. However, the masses, who planned to rally in front of the Merdeka Palace, could not go ahead with their plan since they were blocked by barbed wire installed on two road segments in front of the Ministry of Tourism, Medan Merdeka Barat street.
When being confirmed by Republika.co.id, the police said the rally was held around horse statue. The crowd did not gathered around Hotel Indonesia Roundabout since the police have closed the street to MH Thamrin street.
