REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The presidential instruction regarding corruption eradication to be announced by Joko Widodo will involve both preventive and legal action efforts.
"The president will not limit the legal actions of the Corruption Eradication Commission. However, a combination of preventive and legal actions is necessary in order to combat corruption," Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto stated here on Thursday.
Andi was of the viewpoint that the corruption eradication efforts will be successful only when accountability and transparency can be ensured in the system with regard to the government's expenditure for regional and central administrations.
The secretary noted that the president gave an instruction to the ministries and state agencies related to the system that must be implemented to avoid corruption and strengthen legal action.
"There are detailed instructions from the president to each ministry and state agency relating to the points to be followed in order to eradicate corruption through preventative measures and legal action," Andi remarked.
Andi emphasized that the presidential instruction has been part of the national strategy for corruption eradication in 2015.
Andi stated that the cabinet secretariat has received the instruction draft, and the government hoped that the instruction can be accomplished in the coming week.
