REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has announced the 2015 New Colombo Plan Scholars in Canberra, according to the Australian Embassy here on its official website on Saturday (21/12).

Ten of Australia's most talented undergraduate students have won prestigious New Colombo Plan scholarships to live, study and work in Indonesia.

"Our 2015 New Colombo Plan Scholars are among Australia's best and brightest - they have demonstrated academic excellence, a strong commitment to engaging with our neighbors and the character to represent Australia with distinction across the region," said Bishop.

"The Australian Government established the New Colombo Plan to lift awareness of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting more Australian undergraduates to study in the region and create bonds of friendship and understanding that will last a lifetime," Bishop said.

The second Yudhoyono Fellow to Indonesia, Harrison Hall, will study at Gadjah Mada University, majoring in Commerce, Finance and International Business.

The other recipients will be studying at Gadjah Mada University, Parahyangan Catholic University and BINUS International University.

The Australian Government has committed $100 million in new funding over five years to implement the New Colombo Plan.
