REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Ulema Assembly (MUI) delivered a statement of mourning for the martyrdom of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh. Haniyeh called MUI Foreign Relations Chairman Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim a hero of the Palestinian nation and a defender of humanity
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. Allahumagh pharlahu warhamhu wa afihi wa'fu anhu. Dr Ismail Haniyeh was killed as a martyr by Israel following previous martyrs. God willing the deceased is placed by God's side in his Naim heaven. Amen,” said Sudarnoto's statement received by the Republika.
He did not forget to invite and call on the Muslim community in particular to perform ghoib prayers and pray for the prosperity and independence of Palestine.
According to him, the deceased was a figure and leader not only for Hamas, but for the citizens and the Palestinian nation as a whole. “It is no exaggeration for me to say that he is a fighter and defender of humanity, a sovereign who has managed to unveil and dismantle the rot and evil of Israel, which has carried out a massive occupation and the most heinous and terrible genocide in Palestine,” he said.
Through his leadership of Hamas, Sudarnoto said, the struggle against Israel has prompted the emergence of a wave of global alliances among world countries and societies more massively defending Palestine from October 2023 to the present day. “His constant struggle, together with other Hamas figures and fighters and the forces of resistance against Israel, has also succeeded in mobilizing global forces to bring Israel's crimes to the ICJ, the outcome of which to this day continues to be held in motion until the United Nations delivers a final ruling that effectively establishes Israel guilty of occupation and genocide.
“He stressed that what is happening in Palestine is not just a Hamas-Israel conflict, but a global problem because Israel has clearly violated international law. “Therefore, all elements of the world community as well as those countries that have now de facto supported Palestinian sovereignty must continue to press for the destruction of Israel.“
According to him, the killing of Haniyeh shows that Israel, which will never hear the call for a ceasefire, even intends to completely destroy Palestine. “Then the military approach should have been considered. Don't let Israel's systemic murder of anyone be carried out.
“He stressed that the OIC countries needed to hold emergency meetings after the killing of Ismail Haniyeh and establish more measured military measures in order to effectively stop the killings and extermination carried out by Israel. “All countries that have de facto support for Palestinian sovereignty, it is important to take steps to support this military approach.“
