REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The head of the Army Lighting Department (Kadispenad), Brigjen Kristomei Sianturi revealed that the investigation into the cause of the explosion at Kodam Jaya Regional Munitions Warehouse (Gud) in Ciangsana Village, Gunung Putri District, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday (30/3/2024) evening, is still ongoing.

“Until now, the investigation is still ongoing, the investigation team has been formed by Pomdam Jaya, Pangdam Jaya in this case, including Kodam Jaya equipment, Zeni, Logistics Staff, Intelligence Staff,” Kristomei said when he met at Mapolda Metro Jaya, Semanggi, South Jakarta, Wednesday (3/4/2024).

He said until now the investigation is still ongoing. The team is also still working on the field. “We are waiting to see what the investigation will look like,” Kristomei said.

According to him, Mabesad is still receiving reports from residents whose homes were affected by the blast. “There are 44 houses and all of them have been repaired by Kodim (Bogor Regency) and today we have started to have trauma healing for children to the communities around the warehouse,” Kristomei said.

When asked if there was an element of negligence about the cause of the explosion, Kristomei directed it to the investigation team who would later tell it to the public. “While there isn't yet, we're still working. It means later let that conclusion be from the investigation team that delivered it,” he said.

Kristomei also mentions sterilization around the blast site is still being carried out until now. “It is not ruled out that there are still projectiles, there are still other objects flying as a result of the explosion of the warehouse there. If there are people who still report it, we will follow up immediately,” Kristomei said.

Zeni TNI AD Explosives Tampering Company (Jihandak) continues to comb the settlement area to make sure there are no more explosives left in the aftermath of the Gudrumah Kodam Jaya blast. In this way, the settlement area will be declared safe.

While Kapuspen TNI Maj. Gen. R Nugraha Gumilar said, Jihandak Zeni TNI AD team has combed the area within a radius of two kilometers. Only, at the site of the explosion, there are settlements hundreds of meters away from Gudrumah Kodam Jaya. That obviously needs to be evaluated.

“The radius yesterday was only up to two kilometers, later it will increase to three or four kilometers, for safety, because if you look at the rules, the warehouse is a safe distance from the inhabitants, about 500 meters to a kilometer. That's a safe distance,” Nugraha said at Mabes TNI, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Tuesday (2/4/2024).
