REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- RI President Prabowo Subianto asked his ministry to try not to terminate the employment relationship (PHK)) against Sritex employees, and for this textile company to remain in operation. This was stated by Minister of Employment (Menaker) Yassierli, after President Prabowo held a limited meeting with ministers, including Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, to discuss one of them about the case of Sritex declared bankrupt by the District Court (PN) Niaga Semarang.
“The government is very concerned that layoffs should not happen. That's the number one point. So we also request that Sritex should remain in production as usual,” Yassierli said during a press statement, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday (29/10/2024).
President Prabowo, Menaker said, declared that the government would not allow layoffs to occur against Sritex employees. The government believes that layoffs will not occur, as the option to file a cassation against PN Niaga Semarang's ruling will be pursued.
“It's not (bankruptcy) yet, which means there will be a cassation process, and then we see that's not going to happen,” Yassierli said.

Yassierli noted that so far there are no reports of layoffs occurring against Sritex employees. He said that it had already carried out monitoring, especially in the Central Java area.
Yassierli detailed that as many as 162 labor supervisors in Central Java continue to communicate and coordinate with Sritex management in order to keep employees' rights fulfilled.
Therefore, the government also asked Sritex employees to remain calm, as a number of corporate rescue strategies have been prepared, including legal steps and corporate action.
“I am concerned about the rights of workers, working peacefully and having all their rights fulfilled so it should not be until this issue interferes with their work,” Yassierli said.
