REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Sejahtera Justice Party (PKS) faction of DPR RI Jazuli Juwaini said that his party has no problem to be an opposition or coalition in the future.
“The PKS has 10 years of experience in coalition under Mr. SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) and 10 years of opposition under Mr. Jokowi. So the opposition has no problems, the coalition is ready, we see the dynamics,” Jazuli said in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
Members of Commission I of the DPR RI revealed that the choice to become a coalition or opposition after the presidential election is only a technical issue.
He also stated that his party would never limit itself after the 2024 presidential election was held. Instead, it consistently encourages cooperation with all components of the nation and political forces to realize the national goals of the state.
“We never limit ourselves to cooperating with anyone because it is impossible to build nations and states without cooperation. The competition is during the election, we offer ideas, we battle ideas. But after the election then the competition is over, and we return to one goal which is to build the nation,” he said.
He said that the official stance of the MCC to become a coalition or opposition will be determined by the deliberations of the Syura Assembly and the Central Leadership Council (DPTP). “To be sure, decisions about coalition or opposition in the MCC are not personal taste, but deliberative decisions of the Shura Assembly and DPTP, and their nature is dynamic according to the degree of welfare and interests for the people,” he said.
Nevertheless, he was still reluctant to disclose the timing of the deliberations of the Shura Assembly and DPTP so asked the public to wait for the announcement of the official stance of the MCC. “When is the time? Just wait until the inauguration of the president and vice president is still in October. In due course the MCC will announce its positioning,” he said.
Jazuli also stressed that the MCC's communication with other political parties to establish cooperation in the executive and the legislature went smoothly, including with president-elect Prabowo Subianto.
“Including with Mr. Prabowo as president-elect, MCC relations are fine and indeed have been well established for a long time. The leaders of the MCC have used to greet each other,” he said.
