REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SAMARINDA -- The Indonesia-Australia strained relations over Jakarta's decision to execute two Australian drug death row convicts did not affect the Australian plan to export 11,000 heads of cattle to East Kalimantan Province.

"East Kalimantan Deputy Governor Mukmin Faisyal has held talks with the Australian government on business relations. The Australian government claimed it will not link politics with cooperation on cattle," Dadang Sudarya, the head of Samarinda's Animal Husbandry Service, said here on Sunday.

Therefore, he convinced cattle farmer groups in East Kalimantan that the 11,000 cattle assistance whose funds were obtained from the central government would be distributed.

The 11,000 young cattle of the Brahman Cross (BC) species will be distributed after they have arrived in East Kalimantan from Australia.

He said that the government of the Northern Territory (NT) is determined to fulfill its commitment to export young BC cattle based on the East Kalimantan regional government's program.
