REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Council of Ulamas (MUI) would invite 18 states from Asia, Europe, and Australia on the fourth lunar conjugation assembly of MUI on June 29-July 2 in Tasikmalaya, West Java. Secretary General of MUI, Ichwan Sam, said that on Sunday.

"We invite some neighboring countries because Indonesia is the biggest Muslim country in the world that becomes the reference of edicts on halal products and Islamic economy," Ichwan said.

About 800 people including MUI representatives from 33 provinces in Indonesia, the representatives of some organizations, Islamic boarding house, and Islamic universities will attend the meeting.

"We also invite the ulamas from Australia, Malaysia, Brunei Darusalam, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Italy, and many more," he added.

The three important points on the meeting are national, law, and contemporary fiqh issues. The statehood will discuss the fuel subsidy, while the laws on alcohol beverages. "For contemporary fiqh, we will discuss about funding of hajj by bank," he explained.

He added that edict was legal opinion. "The more people question, the more the edict is important to be discussed," he said.
