REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Hajj Fund Management Agency (BPKH) said the news related to takeover Aceh endowments (waqf) land in Mecca has caused misunderstanding. BPKH acting head (Plt) Anggito Abimanyu asserted there is no transfer of management rights, as assumed by many parties.
"There is a misunderstanding in the investment objective. There is no transfer of rights on Aceh waqf land in Mecca," said Anggito on Monday (March 12).
He ensured the management would still be in the hand of nadzir (supervisor or guard). Anggito conveyed waqf land was invested by investors from Saudi Arabia. The owner of waqf land is an Aceh ulema and the nadir is Saudi ulema, also investor, and hotel businessmen.
"BPKH's position is to invest on waqf land," he said.
Anggito said the agency will explore hotel investment and its benefits. It is expected can return for Acehnese pilgrims benefit.
"So BPKH is not taking over the management of all endowments land," Anggito added.
Anggito said BPKH concerned with many responses on this misunderstanding. He hoped Indonesian Muslims sought clarification.
"We feel worry with all responses, but we assert that we want to help Aceh pilgrims and want to return Saudi Arabia investment to Indonesia," Anggito said.
Currently, BPKH is exploring all possible investments. According to the investment arrangements of pilgrim funds as stipulated in Government Regulation No.5/2018 o the portion of hajk funds that can be invested amounted to 20 percent of the total funds.
